Updates10/08/2010 Update from Fingal Co. Council to the Residents Association regarding playground and lighting between Red Arches and Baldoyle village; I spoke with Peter Cuthberg, Senior Executive Parks Superintendent. Parks are awaiting a decision from NAMA on the transfer of land. This decision is expect soon as Parks are intending to allocated the Playing Pitches in September. As mentioned, Parks believe that 'passive supervision' will occur when the playing pitches are being used and should therefore deter the anti-social behaviour in the area. Parks have publically declared that they intend making Baldoyle a 'recreational hub'. This will involve expand the play facilities in the Coast to include a skateboard park when resources are available. As the Playground will no longer stand alone (compliment by the playing pitches and the proposed skateboard park), the moving of the Playground would therefore not be considered. Parks also confirmed that they would not have the resources to increase the playground boundary fence when hand over occurs. I have asked P Curthberg to notify me when the Transfer occurs and I will let you know also Regards the public lighting from the Coast entrance toward the Village. The cost of this works would be high as it would involve the provision of public lightening and the replacement of the footpath. Transportation would not be in a position to consider this work until 2011. 31/07/2009
Allotments
Menolly got back to us on the request to turn some unused land on site into allotments, which has been sent on to head office and they are considering it. As mentioned at the last meeting, while there are still essential road markings to be applied in the estate, this may be a little pie in the sky, but it is also worth pointing out that any allotments are rented, so this plan is potentially revenue generating for Menolly, should they proceed with it. It's a reply at the very least - will keep you posted!
In the meantime if anyone would like to find out more information on allotments or put your name down for an established site in the Fingal area, check out http://www.allotments.ie
